“The Trump administration has achieved something in the South Caucasus that no other U.S. administration since 1991 has been able to achieve. I am referring to the idea of connecting Central Asia to Europe through the South Caucasus and the Middle Corridor, as well as the prospect of integrating Armenia into global supply chains. This initiative is of strategic importance to Washington because it creates uninterrupted communication and transportation routes bypassing Russia, China, and Iran. The idea itself is not new, but it has never reached this stage of implementation before.

It is clear that the time factor is crucial here, and the project needs to be brought to life as quickly as possible. This is precisely why the role of Washington’s bureaucracy has been significantly reduced in this process. In fact, everything is being done to ensure that the project is implemented as quickly as possible and that no additional obstacles arise within Washington’s administrative system that could affect the project’s implementation timeline.

This applies both to the State Department, where decision-making processes can often be slow, and to the National Security Council, where decisions and scenarios under consideration can also take considerable time. At present, these obstacles are effectively absent. Both competing institutions are headed by Rubio, and, as I observe, decisions are being made quite quickly, at least with regard to this project.

In this context, it is also important to address the appointment of Konstantin Sokolov, which prompted a wide range of interpretations. His appointment should be viewed within the same strategic context. Sokolov is quite familiar with Armenia’s business environment, including both its positive and negative aspects. However, what is important here is that his appointment also fits into the logic of reducing bureaucracy. He has direct ties to key figures in the Trump administration and, in the process of implementing TRIPP and the broader project, will benefit from the administration’s direct and unequivocal support.
